Auction

9/28/10When broken down, football is a simple recreational game - a game that requires two teams of 11, a ball, and a field. The game itself has not changed from the day of its creation, but the social impact has evolved immensely. Over the past century, society and media influences have transformed football from simply being a form of entertainment into a staple of popular culture. The college football fan base, in particular, has continued to grow steadily, and there have been both good and bad effects of this. Money is what drives this "business," the same as any other one. One needs to look no further than the corruption caused by agents to see this. They have turned the game of football into a full-out marketing agency. The players have become the product and the agents have translated into the bidders. In this game, all morals are essentially thrown out the window, as it is no less than a fight to claim property and both sides deserve equal blame.
